Before the Jalan Othman wet market was shut down, the Taman Megah market was also closed yesterday after a 49-year-old trader from the vegetable section reportedly tested positive for the virus. A screening was set to be conducted for the Taman Megah market at 9am tomorrow (28th April) whereas the Jalan Othman wet market is set to undergo its screening on Wednesday (29th April) at 9am.

Authorities have also advised citizens who may have come into contact with the traders during the respective periods below to immediately visit the Kelana Jaya SS6 and Taman Medan health clinics for screening:

  • Jalan Othman wet market from 5th April to 18th April
  • Taman Megah market from 11th April to 25th April

The Jalan Othman wet market hosts a total of 578 market traders, including 21 traders alone from the fish section.

This closure comes right after eight parcels of a residential area located in the Selayang wholesale market was faced with the enhanced MCO to prevent the further spread of the virus. As a result, the Kuala Lumpur wholesale market and Pasar Borong Harian Selayang has since been closed. After screening, the KL wholesale market was cleared to resume operations last Friday.

Stay safe guys!
