The transition into the endemicity has led to the increase of rempit activities in some areas in Johor.
Last night (4 May), PDRM in Johor revealed that an area in Taman Kota Masai, Pasir Gudang, Johor is turning into a hotspot for some teenagers to perform dangerous stunts on motorcycles.
The group even dubbed the hotspot Sekolah Wheelie (School of Wheelie).
On their Facebook post last night, PDRM revealed that the police in Johor raided the “school” after the location once again became the spotlight following a fatal accident involving 4 teenagers, a week before the Aidilfitri celebration.
Head of the Johor Traffic Enforcement Investigation Department (JSPT), Superintendent M. Kumarasan said his team has taken proactive steps in curbing the activities by conducting a Special Motorcycle Ops in conjunction with Op Selamat 18 Hari Raya Aidilfitri yesterday.

Throughout the operation, a total of 81 summons were issued and a number of 105 motorcycles were inspected. Most offences involved non-wearing of helmets.
“Based on the statistics of OP Selamat 18 Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2022, motorcyclists fall under the highest category in terms of contributing to the number of fatal accidents,” Kumarasan added.
It’s a cowboy town
Malaysians have since expressed their gratitude towards PDRM for their efforts in taking action. Some of them have also expressed their fear & annoyance toward the group of rempits.
“Please keep this going! Too many teenagers without license have been performing dangerous stunts in the area.”
“It’s like a cowboy town and it’s scary to go there. Can’t even get a parking spot and it’s even tougher to exit at the junction as these kids keep on coming.”
Don’t forget the parents!
In the meantime, some Malaysians also think that the parents should not be spared from getting fined.
“Please keep this operation going. Don’t forget to fine the parents as well for allowing their underage children to ride motorcycles.”
“Please fine their parents as well.”
Kudos to PDRM for all of their efforts in doing their best to stop these youth from “performing” on the road & endangering other road users. This shall serve not only as a reminder to everyone out there but also a step to avoid them from getting into an accident.
