In Malaysia, it is very common to see laundry being hung outdoors to dry, especially in residential areas.

Unfortunately, this also means that our clothes, or more specifically, our underwear become easy targets of (perverted) thieves.

Recently, a teenager in Johor Bahru claimed that her neighbour, a man in his 40s has been stealing women’s underwear from the clothesline outside of her family’s house.

“We thought it was really strange that our mom’s underwear kept going missing. At first, I thought she was just being forgetful and didn’t put her clothes in the right place,” she told Harian Metro.

Complaining to the culprit’s family

However, a year ago, the family realised that the culprit of the disappearing underwear was the guy next door.

They complained about the matter to the man’s family because they were worried about his actions, but to no avail. Instead of stopping, the man became more daring.

He continued stealing the mom’s underwear and even went so far as to stalk the teenager when she is home alone.

Behaving aggressively

She also shared that the man started acting more aggressively by deliberately throwing leftover tiles and stones at their house.

“What’s more worrying is the man threatening to beat and kill. We made a police report last April at the Majidee Police Station. We hope this problem can be resolved and will not repeat itself,” said the 14-year-old teenage girl.

“I didn’t think that a neighbor would threaten murder in addition to frequently intimidating my family members after being reprimanded for stealing women’s underwear,” she said.

“After the incident, I didn’t go to school for almost three weeks because I was worried about my safety,” she added.

The suspect has been arrested

Meanwhile, Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat confirmed receiving the report.

“The suspect has been detained and remanded for four days from today until November 5 to assist the investigation,” he said yesterday.

That must’ve been so scary for the family.
