It is already practised by every country that if their citizens are brought back from overseas, they need to be placed under quarantine to ensure the spread of Covid-19 can be curbed. For example, in Malaysia, those who came back will be placed in hotels and will only be allowed to go home after testing negative in 14 days.

However, a man in Japan shared several pictures of a temporary quarantine area provided by the federal government there. He tweeted,

“Came home from abroad, the cardboard bed at Narita Airport. I need to sleep here tonight. I cannot go home until I get my Covid-19 test results.

From the picture, we can see that the makeshift carboard beds are arranged throughout a huge area in Narita Airport with more boxes on the side to be set up if there are more travellers arriving. However, according to the tweet, this is not a quarantine centre but instead a temporary one as they have to wait for their results before either being sent home or placed in a real quarantine centre.

This is so different from what Malaysians have experienced after they come back home from overseas. They will be immediately sent to quarantine centres at hotels and only be allowed to go home after 14 days if they tested negative. What do you think of the procedures between Japan and Malaysia?
