Social media influencers are nowadays seen as the celebrities of the younger generations, hence, it is no secret that some influencers demand to be treated as a celebrity.

However, no matter how famous or rich you are, there is ultimately no point if you do not try to stay humble and to not expect people to treat you differently just because of your status.

Recently, a local social media influencer went viral after she expressed her disappointment that supermarket staff did not offer to help her carry her items despite the fact that she spent thousands.

The influencer who is also a businesswoman based in Penang, stated that she is very angry with the staff of a Lotus’s branch she recently went to.

In her livestream, she said, “I as a small business owner still offer to help my customers carry their stuff to their car. But I went to Lotus’s and spent around RM2k-3k and even RM5k and I had to go put the stuff myself.”

“The staff are so arrogant and it makes me so angry. I will only go again if I was super desperate. So calculative for what. When you come buy from me, even though we don’t have trolleys, we will help.”

Not their job

Clips of the livestream have since been circulating on social media platforms such as Twitter. It has since gone viral and drew plenty of netizens to comment on the issue. The majority of users appeared to side with Lotus’s and its staff.

“The staff are already tired working there from morning till night and having to move around stock and organise it. You can casually say that they should carry your items. It’s not even in their policy.”

“It’s not even in their policy. No need to be so dramatic. Comparing your shop with theirs,” said a user.

Meanwhile, another user said, “Just because you think that you’re an ‘influencer’, that doesn’t mean that you’re always right! Who are you to feel that entitled?

As of the time being, neither she or Lotus’s has responded to the matter.
