A 27-year-old woman in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, was found dead earlier this week in what was suspected to be a suicide.
The incident happened at Panchavati Shiv Parivar Colony in the Kotwali area and was discovered after her in-laws informed her family about her death.

“Papa assaulted and killed mummy”
Police said the woman’s family accused her husband and in-laws of murder after years of harassment, according to Hindustan Times.
But their four-year-old daughter’s drawing and statements suggested her dad killed her mum and staged it as a suicide.
“Papa assaulted and killed mummy. He then said, ‘Die if you want to.’ He hanged her body and hit her head with a rock,” she said.
She also claimed her dad later took the body down, put it in a sack, and had even threatened to kill her mum before.
“I once told him that if he touched my mother, I’d break his hand. He used to beat her, saying she should die and that I should end up like her,” she added.
They’ve had a troubled marriage since 2019
The woman’s father, Sanjeev, said his daughter married Sandeep in 2019, but their relationship had been rocky from the start.
He said he had already given 2 million rupees in cash as dowry on the wedding day, but not long after, Sandeep and his family started asking for more, including a car.
“I told them I couldn’t afford it, and that’s when they started assaulting my daughter. I even went to the police, and we managed to reach a compromise,” he said.
The police have initiated an investigation and sent the woman’s body for autopsy.
