India’s Covid-19 cases are at an all-time high with an average of 330,000 new cases daily. They are reported to be the worst affected country during this pandemic.
News about the situation in India has allegedly caused discrimination towards one Malaysian woman as some people seem to think that Indians living in Malaysia came from India.
The woman, who goes by the initials DS, reached out to WORLD OF BUZZ to shed light on an encounter she had with another woman at the train station.
She shared that she had arrived at MRT Pasar Seni, when an elderly Chinese lady took the escalator in front of her. While DS was behind her, the lady seemed to be telling her something, so DS approached the lady.
“I approached her, she said don’t come near me since Covid cases in India are very bad,” DS told WORLD OF BUZZ.
“I was so pissed off.”
DS further narrated that when she was about to take a second escalator to go to LRT Pasar Seni, the lady didn’t get on the same one as she did and even told other people behind her, “India Covid is very bad.”
“Is she out of her mind? How can people travel to India when travel is not allowed. These people’s minds are so shallow,” DS exclaimed.
DS then shared a photo of the lady, who she claimed was walking far away from her because she is an “Indian and may spread Covid”.
DS also shared that she has to go out to work after six months of unemployment so that she can support her parents, and questioned why the lady was out and about as senior citizens are in the high-risk category of getting infected.
During this pandemic when everyone is struggling in one way or another, let’s be kind to others and not discriminate against each other based on race or religion. We can do better!
