With an additional 15 years of jail time for Datuk Seri Najib Razak, his beloved wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, can only pray for the best and let fate run its course.

However, Rosmah strongly denies one allegation — that she is the reason behind Najib’s downfall, saying all the allegations are untrue.

Rosmah says she is not the reason behind her husband’s downfall

In response to certain parties’ claims that pointed fingers at her, Rosmah chose to turn a deaf ear, saying that those close to them understand what really went on behind the scenes.

“Those close to Najib, including family members and close friends, understand the true narrative and not what has been told by outsiders,” Rosmah said.

Following the High Court’s verdict on Najib’s rejected house arrest bid and additional prison sentence, Rosmah lamented the parties who “celebrated” the matter, saying that it was not necessary to rejoice over her husband’s fate.

“No matter how much hatred they have towards Najib and me, I don’t think anyone should rejoice over our hardship,” Rosmah told Berita Harian.

Continuous moral support through prayers

If Najib fails all his appeals on the 25 convictions related to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), he is expected to finish serving his prison sentence and return home in 2043. Until then, Rosmah said she would continue to support her husband through prayers.

The wife of the former Prime Minister, who now stays at home and focuses on her family, said that she mostly takes care of her grandchildren. Fortunately, she is surrounded by friends and relatives, who remain her strongest support system.

Despite the ongoing crisis, Rosmah appeared calm, stating that her resilience is what Najib would’ve wanted.

“I’m sure that’s what he wants. I have to be strong for our family. I pray, and I recite the Quran.”

“The grandchildren all love their grandfather very much and often ask about Najib. We try our best to protect them and share as much as we can,” Rosmah explained.

Najib’s son, Nizar Najib, also recently voiced his disappointment with the ruling, stating that the family has no room for defence at all.
