Over the past few weeks, a video of a luxurious garage belonging to UMNO Youth Chief for Titiwangsa Datuk Nazir Hussin recently made headlines. There were multiple expensive cars and motorcycles spotted in the video and many netizens questioned the source of the politician’s wealth.
In his latest video uploaded on Instagram, he addressed the issue by saying that he is not a wakil rakyat (representative of the people) and there is no instance in which he will receive the rakyat’s money or misuse it. Other than that, he also confirmed that he is not a civil servant.
The UMNO Youth Chief mentioned that he does not hide his lifestyle as he does not have a need to.
“I’m not a wakil rakyat, it’s just that my position is the UMNO Youth Chief. And if I did anything wrong, such as scamming people or evading my taxes, it will be very easy to find me. I do not hide my lifestyle.”
The bigger picture
Nazir Hussin said that people are only looking at one side of him and they are not looking at the whole picture as he and his brother, under Yayasan Hussin, contribute to those who need help every single month. He said they contribute food baskets and use their own money to give back to society. Every month, they help 500 to 1,000 people which amounts to them spending RM50,000 to RM200,000 of their money.
“I don’t publicise this as I feel like I don’t have the need to. This is between my brother and I, and Allah.”
He elaborated saying that there are times his other family members don’t even know about the welfare he does. Nazir Hussin added that his family is also helping several tahfiz schools financially.
Speaking on his house, he mentioned that he bought it back in 2010 and he didn’t really showcase it as he has a lot of “backdoor and underground” work to do. After Barisan Nasional (BN)’s loss, he had a lot of free time and so, he decided to share more about his lifestyle.
“I never did anything wrong or illegal. If I did, LHDN, PDRM, SPRM, etc. they know where I live. It will be very easy to find me.”
His past
Nazir Hussin mentioned that he helped a lot of people, especially the youth in the past 10 years in terms of employment opportunities and helping teens in poverty access tuition to sit for SPM. After BN’s loss, he realised that he had contributed a lot to society and he wants to realign his focus on his family and businesses instead.
“With my siblings, we do a lot of businesses which span over a few industries. We grow together.”
The 24-minute video has accumulated over 300 comments at the time of writing. Many netizens expressed their support for the UMNO Youth Chief.
