On the surface, competitive eating sounds like a dream job for foodies. While stuffing your face may seem like a dream come true for many, it takes more than just a love for food to compete at this level.
In a recent video shared by @zermattneo / @zermattneo he shares a series of him eating a copious amount of nasi kandar while he was on a trip in Penang.
He’s a competitive eater based in Singapore
In the video, a staff member at a famous eatery is seen serving Zermat Neo an enormous plate of nasi kandar, proudly claiming it to be the largest serving of its kind ever prepared.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, he shared that he’s a full-time content creator and holds the top rank as a competitive eater in Singapore.
Competitive eating has become his career
The 37-year-old went on to explain how he initially got into competitive eating because of a dare, and now it has become his full-time career.
Additionally, he shared that his passion for food inspired him to pursue his current career, emphasising his love for exploring story-rich street food in different countries.
“I’ve always wanted to take on a nasi kandar challenge because I love curry rice, and it’s definitely been the highlight of my trip to Penang.”
The bill amounted to RM300!
In the video, Zermat Neo mentioned that he had set himself a challenge to finish the enormous plate of nasi kandar within a time limit of 1 hour, aiming to complete the entire dish all by himself.
He also mentioned that he thinks there are at least 5 different curries in the nasi kandar, and that the fish head is probably the most expensive item in the dish compared to everything else.
“It took me a full hour to finish, and it cost me RM300, making it the most I’ve ever ordered and consumed by myself.”
