Malaysians using the Amiza Titiwangsa Rest and Relaxation (RnR) area in Gerik, Perak, experienced a scary situation when a hungry elephant entered the RnR parking space searching for food and ended up attacking a car with the owner still inside.
Netizen Mohd Amir Faizal, who was at the scene, took to his Facebook page to share videos of the incident.

A hungry wild elephant attacks a car at Amiza Titiwangsa RnR while the owner is sleeping inside
He wrote, “It is understood that the elephant entered the RnR area because it smelled food waste from the rubbish bin and durians that the victim had with him, and this is not the first time elephants have entered the area in search of food.”
“At first, the elephant took several packages of food waste from the rubbish bin before attacking the victim’s Honda City. The victim said that, at the time of the incident, he was sleeping in the driver’s seat to rest for a while after getting tired from driving from Kelantan heading to Manjung, Perak, to return to his hometown,” Mohd Amir added.

The victim apparently woke up when he felt his car was swaying. Thinking that someone was attempting to break into his car, he held onto the driver’s side window to defend himself, only to discover that the culprit was a wild elephant.
The elephant was safely chased away

Thankfully, Mohd Amir Faizal, who is also a volunteer for a local non-governmental organisation (NGO) in the area and was at the RnR at the time, assisted in chasing the elephant away.
