Mechanic Narrowly Escapes with His Life After a Mercedes-Benz He was Test-Driving Catches Fire in PJ

A mechanic who was test-driving a customer’s Mercedes-Benz sedan had to jump out of the vehicle to save his own life after the car suddenly caught on fire.

According to a report by China Press, the burning car subsequently caused damage to 2 other vehicles that were parked by the side of the road.

This incident took place today (24 December) at approximately 9 AM in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. While the luxury car was 100% burnt, a Perodua Myvi sustained 20% damage, while a Honda Accord sustained 50% damage.

 

The luxury car was recently sent for maintenance, and the mechanic was test-driving it before the incident

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar shared that the authorities received a report regarding this incident at about 9:40 AM, and immediately dispatched personnel to the scene to extinguish the blaze.

He explained that the luxury car had previously been sent to a repair shop for maintenance. It was being test-driven by a mechanic when it suddenly caught on fire on its way back to the repair shop.

“No one was injured in the incident, and firefighters who arrived at the scene quickly extinguished the fire,” he added.
