Yesterday (October 10), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri officially announced the dissolution of the Parliament which means that the next General Election is slated to take place within the next 60 days.
Past experiences have told us that the year-end tends to be the flood season in Malaysia, and the government’s decision to hold the next GE during the flood season has sparked debate online.
Just last night, Syed Saddiq took to his Twitter account and expressed his anger and disappointment towards the decision.
“I’m upset and angry. This is crazy!”
Saddiq then said that multiple states in Malaysia including: Sabah, Kedah, Negeri Sembilan, and Johor have already been hit by the flood with casualties reported, and MET Malaysia has also reported that the flood season is expected to hit us harder at end of November.
“The rakyat has asked for help but the UMNO leaders are arrogant and crazy for power!”
The co-founder of MUDA also highlighted the losses that occurred last year due to the flood, which went as high as RM6.5 billion, including the damage to properties and houses, as well as the lives of the flood victims.
“They’re still traumatised”
The flood season last year restored faith in humanity when strangers were present to help save as many lives as they could. However, almost a year later, some of the rescuers are still traumatised by the disaster.
In the wake of the victims’ deaths, Saddiq revealed that some of his volunteers are still haunted by what they saw during their rescue mission last year.
“They’re still traumatised because they saw bodies floating during the flood!”
At the end of his video, Saddiq assured that this is the time for the rakyat to rise up and fight the arrogance of the UMNO leaders.
“Let’s teach them a lesson, once and for all.”

Kalau mereka nak lawan, kita ajar mereka!
Let’s teach them a lesson!#UndiBanjir pic.twitter.com/62QU5HEGTR

At the time of writing, no date has been confirmed for the next GE. Regardless, we hope that the floods will be taken into account prior to setting the date. While the election is crucial, the lives of the rakyat are of the utmost importance.
