A driver fainted while driving and crashed into another vehicle before ramming through a stall and crashing into a shop lot in Taman Jenaris, Kajang on 27 October.
Kosmo reported that all the victims were reported safe and did not suffer any injuries. It is believed that the driver of the Toyota Hilux fainted because he did not eat and began to panic when he woke up.
A video circulating on social media shows the Toyota Hilux spewing smoke after it crashed into the Perodua Alza. Members of the public can be seen trying to provide assistance, but the vehicle door was locked. Suddenly, the vehicle starts moving again and crashes into the shophouse.
According to Kajang Regional Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd. Zaid Hassan, the incident happened when the Toyota Hilux driven by a 39-year-old local man came from the direction of Giant Prima Saujana towards Kajang town.
“As soon as he arrived at the location, the vehicle entered the opposite lane and collided with a Perodua Alza car coming from the opposite direction, causing it to slide to the right and hit a sales stall in front of the shophouse,” he said.
“Following the incident, the Perodua Alza suffered damage in several parts including the front and bumper. However, the 37-year-old driver was not injured.”
Mohd Zaid Hassan added that when the Toyota Hilux driver woke up, he panicked and failed to control the vehicle resulting in the crash.
Results from the urine screening test also showed that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol and also tested negative for drugs.
Meanwhile, the case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (Rule 10 LN 166/59).
