Here’s How M’sians Can Get a Chunk of RM1,888,888 to Boost Their ONG This Chinese New Year!

CNY is synonymous with prosperity and many use it as an opportunity to usher in more good fortune and ONG for the whole year. This includes doing some rather peculiar practices such as avoiding books because the word “Shu” (book) in Cantonese can also mean “lose”.

Others even roll pineapples into their houses because the fruit is called “Wong lai” in Cantonese and “Ong lai” in Hokkien which when directly translated, sounds like “prosperity come” in Cantonese.
