Previously, we shared the distressing situation faced by a Malaysian woman, Alvy Joanna after she was stalked by a man while at a mall in Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur.
Alvy then shared with WORLD OF BUZZ how she bravely confronted the man, to which the man denied the allegation. However, even after being confronted, the man was STILL following her and Alvy ended up taking refuge in a nearby cafe.
Holy shit guys, I’ve been stalked by some guy & he’s followed me everywhere. I never post anything in real time but this scare the shit out of me, I also confronted him why he’s following me but he denied. I took video of him so everyone can be alert and beware of this guy. pic.twitter.com/yoXQOmKHYm

Alvy has since lodged a police report on the incident but unfortunately, she received apathy from the police personnel. Taking to her X account, Alvy sarcastically shared,
“LMAO not me reporting to the police and they answered, ‘Maybe he likes u kot‘, Malaysia police is the best lah.”
Her revelation has garnered outrage among netizens, with many criticising the police for their lackadaisical and insensitive attitude towards a female victim lodging a report on being stalked.
The incident also caught the attention of Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh who has vowed to take appropriate action so that such an incident won’t happen again.
Hannah, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Segambut, of which Mont Kiara is within her constituency, said that she will be talking to the Officer in Charge of the Police District (OCPD) and the Officer in Charge of the Station (OCS) of the Mont Kiara Police Station to ensure gender sensitivity training is given to the officers there.
The Segambut MP added,
“These remarks/mindset will deter investigation and actions from being taken.”
In the comments, many Malaysians supported Hannah’s action and hoped that police personnel be more empathetic with victims lodging a report.
One commenter said that Malaysia needs to be “cleansed” from this kind of mentality as we don’t want it to be “inherited” by the younger generation in the future.
Meanwhile, another netizen said that a change of mentality is difficult and needs to be taught starting from the most important pillar in one’s life which is religion.
Thankfully, it looks like the Mont Kiara Police Station is striving for better as Alvy in an update on her X account shared how a high-ranking police officer from the station called her and asked if the guy was still following her and assured her that she could always call the police if she doesn’t feel safe.
Alvy shared,
“Update: the higher position police just called me today and asked if the guy still follows me and let me know I can give them a call if I don’t feel safe, and also asked to send in evidence and describe what he looks like. Some police still got hope.”
