Glamping is an upgraded version of traditional camping, offering more modern and luxurious services. It allows you to enjoy the natural surroundings without sacrificing your comfort.
In a recent video that’s been making the rounds online, Reddit user u/CHCH5089 shared a video of their 80-year-old grandmother getting struck by a neighbour after she confronted them of open burning of garbage behind her home.
In the post, the user mentioned that their grandmother’s neighbour owns Baruh Glamping in Tanjung Kling, Melaka. They also highlighted the glamping site’s frequent involvement in open burning every few days, causing smog to consistently invade their house and affecting the grandmother’s health.
Despite attempting civil communication with the neighbours, the user explained that they continued with the practice regardless.
The user’s family has also lodged a report to Majlis Bandaraya Melaka Bersejarah (MBMB), Department of Environment (DOE), and even the police department, but the most the authorities could do was to issue a warning letter but no other actions were taken to which the Glamping operator just continued with their business as usual.
The user also shared a troubling incident where their grandmother confronted one of the Glamping site operators, resulting in a heated argument.
Upon confrontation, a male operator rushed towards the 80-year-old lady and slapped her. Although she managed to get away, the man allegedly struck her again, this time at the back of her head, causing her to fall to the ground.
The user went on to explain that their family had reported the incident to PDRM. The elderly woman was later taken to the hospital for treatment.
“Now we’ve done all we can. We just ‘hope’ the authorities do their jobs, and the operators get the punishment they deserve.”
Baruh Glamping speaks up and takes matters into their own hands
Baruh Glamping argued back and chose to share a video of their perspective on the matter amid the ongoing debate about who is at fault.
The video’s caption stated,
“This Chinese grandmother struck an elderly woman working at our glamping place. That elderly woman who’s working at our glamping place is 70 years old. In the video, you can clearly see her holding a stick. When they shared the video, they edited it before posting, making it appear as if she was the one who got hit. However, in reality, we simply asked her to leave and took the stick from her hand to prevent her from hitting anyone else.”
They also shared that this situation has been ongoing for years, with the 80-year-old woman and her family spreading rumours about them creating a mess by littering everywhere.
Baruh Glamping defended themselves by stating,
“We consistently clean the glamping area to prevent snakes and other animals from lingering around for everyone’s safety. However, they still accuse us of throwing trash.”
Baruh Glamping ended the post stating that,
“Today, things escalated to the point where our staff got physically harmed. We were simply trying to defend ourselves. The video that showed the struggle between our neighbour and our male operator was edited to portray our neighbour as not being at fault. We trust the police to handle the situation.”
