The calm journey of passengers on the MRT train was disturbed when a woman approached another passenger who had reserved a seat by placing her bag on it.

The situation, recorded and posted on TikTok by user @dinalee132, revealed a conflict between two women over seating arrangements.

In the video, the older woman, sitting with her bag, gestures towards the (standing) younger woman and mentions that she plans to file a complaint with the authorities.

As the older woman was complaining, in reply, the younger woman confidently said,

“Go ahead and complain, I’m not afraid.”

This leads the older woman to speak loudly out of frustration, advising the younger woman not to bother her,

“I am not disturbing, I want to sit. There are two seats here, look it’s full there.”

The heated argument garnered attention online, and as a result, people flooded the comment section.

Many online users expressed the view that the elderly woman shouldn’t occupy two seats.

“Whether it’s the bus or MRT, there will always be people like this. If it were me, I would just sit on the bag. The bag shouldn’t even occupy the seat in the first place.”

“She must’ve bought the seats for her bags.”

“Auntie, that seat isn’t meant for your bag. It’s meant for passengers to sit.”

Some took a gentler approach to expressing their thoughts by using humor.

Humor 1

“She owns the train.”

Humor 2 1

“By the time they stop arguing, they’ll probably reach the next stop.”

Humor 3

“If they keep arguing, they will probably miss their station.”
