It’s no secret that there a quite a number of our fellow community members who are down and out. But, every once in a while, there a few among them who manage to get back on their feet thanks to the help of kind and compassionate people.
First, there was the formerly homeless man who had purchased gifts including a durian for the team behind Kechara Soup Kitchen with his first salary. Now, another man has taken the initiative to give back after starting a new.
Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) took to their Facebook page to showcase Mr. S, who had chosen to seek help from them when he was at his lowest but is now back on his feet and volunteering for them!
They wrote,”Mr. S reached out to KSK requesting assistance to find shelter and employment after being separated from his family. Our team promptly responded and assisted him to secure a place at the Pusat Transit Gelandangan (PTG) Kuala Lumpur.”
“From there, he was recommended for a part-time job that has a convenient commute.”
After starting his new part-time job and finding somewhat of a footing, Mr. S then decided it was time he give back to the community by spending his time volunteering with Kechara Soup Kitchen!
“With his life back on track, like a full circle, Mr. S came back to volunteer on our Street Distribution for the first time last Saturday! He wanted to show his appreciation through action, and to give back to the community that he was once part of.”
“Witnessing the progress of clients like Mr. S on their journey to transform their lives brings the KSK team immense joy. With our community’s ongoing support and donations, KSK can continue its mission of assisting individuals in similar circumstance – ensuring that they receive the necessities and opportunities they deserve,” Kechara Soup Kitchen added.

It’s so great to see how people who are at rock bottom can get up and make such amazing changes to their lives.
We can’t wait to see more of this!
