Politicians often have to keep a composed and professional public image. However, some have managed to win the hearts of Malaysians by trolling themselves.
Despite recently facing allegations of corruption against him, Former Minister of Education Dr Maszlee Malik tried to clear the air in a fun way.
Although he has firmly denied all accusations, one claim that persisted was that he was given a Toyota Vellfire.
Maszlee recently took to Twitter to shed light on the claim. “There have been defamatory allegations that I was given Vellfire No.2828…”
Fitnah kononnya saya diberikan Vellfire no 2828…
Itu milik emgs agensi KPM (sekarang KPT) yang digunakan sewaktu saya menteri.
Hari saya berhenti, kereta itu dipulangkan dan terus digunakan oleh CEO emgs.

“The car is under the ownership of the Ministry of Education (now Ministry of Higher Education) and was used when I was the Minister,” he explained.
“The day I resigned, the car was returned and was used by the CEO of the Education Malaysia Global Services.”
He cheekily added that his official car has been a Perodua Myvi and now an ‘Aston Martin’, along with a photoshopped picture of him with James Bond’s Aston Martin.
His cheeky response amused Malaysians
His tweet has garnered over 5,332 likes and 1,800 shares. Netizens love his humour and commented with their own jokes on the post.
A user photoshopped Maszlee’s face onto another picture of James Bond with an Aston Martin. “This one looks nicer YB.”
To which Maszlee replied, “No gun.”
Another said, “You look good posing with the Aston Martin. You look like James Bond.”
Maszlee responded, “James Bond copied me.”
“Only haters would say that’s your face on Daniel Craig’s body. It’s about time for the first Malaysian 007.”
Other users took to the tweet to condemn all of the allegations that he has had to face.
“I am so sorry you have to face all these false malicious lies brought against you.”
“If you’re the PM, Malaysia would become the Asian Tiger again,” commented a user.
Kudos to Maszlee for being able to turn some pretty serious accusations into something light hearted. Do you agree? Let us know in the comments.
