Malaysians are a bunch of fortunate people as Mother Nature has blessed us with such majestic mountains and mesmerising waterfalls.

Which is why it’s sad to say that while some foreigners are envious of the landscape we have, some of us choose to take them for granted and worse still, leave a trail of rubbish after every visit.

Just hours ago, a local Facebook page shared a few images that definitely put many of us to shame. In the pictures, a singlet-clad white man can be seen cleaning up the rubbish at the surroundings of Air Terjun Pecah Batu in Perak.

He was later identified as Tim Campbell while his nationality remains a mystery.

Based on the pictures, Tim rode his motorcycle to the waterfall and brought along tools like a rake and gunny sacks to clean up the dried leaves and rubbish. He was barefooted and made sure all the trash was placed into the sidecar fitted with his motorcycle.

Tim also went the extra mile by picking up rubbish by the water and those that were hidden among the bush, because someone threw it there in the first place.

Needless to say, these thought-provoking pictures began circulating on Facebook and netizens were deeply embarrassed. Malu wei…

“Can you see just how much rubbish Tim managed to gather? If we do our part, there shouldn’t be any rubbish in the sidecar of the motorcycle,” a netizen said.

“As a local, I’m deeply embarrassed by this man’s action because it was us, the locals, who created the mess but it was a foreigner who actually cleaned it up,” another Facebook user said.

Judging from the smile Tim had on his face, clearly he loved and cherished what Mother Nature gave us; in fact, a lot more than some of us do! His effort is certainly respectable and we hope all future visitors would leave nothing but footprints at such recreational spots.
