The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has arrested a man after he was spotted naked on the balcony of a hotel room in Semporna, Sabah, last Tuesday (June 6).
According to a report by Semporna Info, Semporna District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Farlan Lee Abdullah said that at approximately 9:30pm, on Thursday (June 8), officers from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Semporna District Police Headquarters arrested the 40-year-old foreign tourist.
“The arrest follows a nine-second video that shows a man without clothes on (completely naked) going out to the balcony of a hotel room facing the road. The man’s actions were recorded by members of the public who were passing by the road in front of the hotel before the video was shared on social media.”
“The man in question has been arrested for an investigation under Section 294(a) of the Penal Code for the offense of obscene behaviour in a public place which, if convicted, shall carry a punishment of imprisonment for a period of up to 3 months or a fine or both,” he said.
The foreign tourist has since been remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code for 4 days until June 12 (Monday).
Mohd Farhan has also requested for the members of the public who recorded the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
