During the festive seasons such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, and Deepavali, Malaysians would often times also give ang pows to 3D (dirty, dangerous, demeaning) workers (who are often times foreign workers) in and around their neighbourhoods as a sign of gratitude for them keeping the housing area clean.
But, what if it’s no longer by voluntary basis and some start demanding for it?
Netizen, Maxx Tan, took to his TikTok account to showcase how he had chased a foreign man out of his housing area in Klang, after the man decided to go house to house asking for ang pows.
He wrote, “Asking for ang pows from house to house? A Rohingya man wearing a KDEB (waste management) contractor T-shirt.”
It is important to note that the man is foreign, but it is not confirmed that he is from the Rohingya community.
In the video, Maxx could be heard confronting the man as he was outside of a house, waiting for the home owner to come out.
“Can ask for ang pows ah? Where’s your passport, where’s your permit?” Maxx asked the foreign man.
He then told the man to leave or he would make a police report.
As the foreign man started to walk away, Maxx followed behind him to ensure he left the neighbourhood. The foreign man initially turned towards another row of houses, but Maxx shouted at him to go out through the gate of the guarded neighbourhood, to which he complied.

What do you think about this? Should Maxx have just allowed the foreign man to ask for ang pows or was he right to chase the foreign man away?
