The five-star hotel, The Datai Langkawi, has temporarily ceased operations after 16 employees tested positive Covid-19.
Based on a report by Astro Awani, the luxury hotel shared a statement informing of their 10 day closure, starting 22 November.
They revealed that the discovery of the outbreak came after their management conducted a regular screening test, to ensure the safety of their guests and staff.
“Those confirmed positive have been isolated and ordered to quarantine, meanwhile, cleaning and detailed sanitation will be carried out at the resort,” they wrote.
Additionally, all close contacts up to the secondary level have been accounted for.
“We have also performed follow-up tests on other team members at random,”
“During a detailed and thorough investigation, subsequent positive cases were confirmed. The resort management immediately activated quarantines. As part of the procedure and out of vigilance and concern for the well-being of guests and employees, we are forced to close our hotel,” they added.
The Datai went on to apologise for the situation and are ready to make amends with guests.
“We also apologise for the inconvenience caused to guests,”
“For any existing booking for dates of stays, including during the temporary closure period, the resort informs that there will be free date changes or cancellations without penalty and full refunds,” they explained.
All guests with existing bookings will be contacted directly to go over their options.
