A group of three content creators came under fire after a video of them eating chicken at a fast-food outlet and handing the leftover bones to a homeless man went viral online.

One of them later responded on social media, saying that they actually gave the man a proper meal with rice and two pieces of chicken, and claimed the whole “chicken bones” part was just a skit.

“They must take responsibility for what they put out”

Following the incident, preacher Firdaus Wong weighed in, calling it “an act of humiliation towards the less fortunate.”

As reported by Harian Metro, he noted that although the three individuals have since apologised, he believes stricter action should be taken.

“It’s clear they did it deliberately. Even if they claim to have informed the homeless man beforehand, it was still degrading. They weren’t just insulting him, they were also degrading themselves, their dignity, and their self-respect,” he said.

He also emphasised that while social media is an open platform, content creators must take responsibility for what they put out.

“The harshest possible punishment should be imposed”

Firdaus also said that if any laws allow the men to be charged, the strictest action and punishment should be taken against them.

“This is necessary so it sends a clear message and serves as a deterrent to others thinking of making similar content. I hope the authorities take firm action if there’s any legal way to bring them to court. We shouldn’t use ‘raising awareness’ as an excuse when what they’re really doing is mocking others and causing unnecessary outrage.”

He further urged all social media content creators to be more careful when creating content.

“If you want to create content, do it the right way and in a way that benefits others, not in a way that humiliates people like this,” he said.
