The atmosphere around Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman last night became chaotic following a dispute between Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) enforcement officers and unlicensed vendors.
Two videos that have gone viral on social media showed pushing and shoving between uniformed DBKL enforcement officers and a group of vendors.

It is understood that the commotion began after the authorities took action to confiscate goods from several individuals, including a balloon seller.
When the confiscation was about to take place, the seller refused to hand over dozens of balloons he was carrying, leading to a scuffle.
At the same time, several other individuals, also believed to be unlicensed vendors, shouted for the authorities not to mistreat the balloon seller, but the situation became more tense.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, who is a political aide to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, condemned the DBKL officers for their aggressive actions.
In a tweet responding to the video, he said, “Whatever the reasons given by the City Hall, such vile and rude actions cannot be justified.”
“What is the meaning of fasting and doing good deeds during Ramadan if it fails to humanise us and does not evoke compassion and mercy towards the less fortunate? Ramadan should strengthen our humanity and elevate our character.”
“While awaiting a full report from the authorities, I strongly condemn this action and urge a thorough investigation to be conducted immediately against those involved,” he stated.
