He protested by throwing bottles

In the video shared by a TikTok user, the seller appeared frustrated with the officers’ actions and ended up throwing bottles of drinks and tissue packets onto the field in protest.

Despite his tantrum, the officers stayed calm and didn’t react. A woman also stepped in, confronting and scolding them in front of the crowd.

Many netizens praised the enforcement officers for their actions, sparking a wave of reactions.

“Props to the officers for not fighting back helped defuse the situation. A lot of other vendors there were selling mineral water too, but they applied for permits and paid for their spots. Is it fair to the other Malay traders who followed the rules?”

“If you want to do business, get a license. Well done, DBKL!”

“Well done, DBKL. Just catch those who sell wherever they want.”

But some netizens thought the enforcement officers were being unfair.

“How could you confiscate the drinks when you could’ve just said, ‘Brother, you can’t sell here anymore starting tomorrow, or our officers might take action’? I think he would’ve respected that more because of the considerate approach.”

“You don’t go after foreigners but instead you go after our own people.”

“DBKL really has no humanity. DBKL is only brave with locals. But when it comes to foreigners, DBKL is scared.”
