A distressing incident happened in Canning Garden, Ipoh yesterday (9 January) after a Perodua MyVi driven by a foreign elderly man crashed into a petrol station.
CCTV footage and photos of the incident have since circulated online, including in this post on the Perak Press Facebook page.
In the video, the MyVi can be seen suddenly crashing through the glass panel of the convenience store at the petrol station into a courier service outlet inside.
Several people were inside the petrol station convenience store at the time of the crash, with a woman near the courier service outlet narrowly avoiding getting hit full-on by the car.
However, the woman was injured on her right leg as a result of the incident.
The MyVi was driven by a 77-year-old Switzerland national who suddenly suffered leg cramps after driving to the petrol station to pump petrol.
The elderly foreigner, who is a former hotel manager then lost control of the car and rammed into a motorcycle before crashing into the petrol station convenience store. Miraculously, the driver escaped injuries.
No arrest was made as a result of the incident, with the police classifying the incident under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules.
