More and more sexual harassment cases are coming out in the open and this time, it involves a dodgeball coach.
According to Malaysian Association of Dodgeball president Datuk V. Radhakrishnan, the victim was a primary school pupil and the association had received a complaint from the school’s Parent-Teacher Association Co-Curriculum Bureau.
Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh confirmed that a police report was lodged against the dodgeball coach for alleged sexual harassment, reports BERNAMA.
The minister also said that the Education Ministry will be carrying out its own investigations on the case. She added,
“Next week, I will meet the parties involved (for discussions).”
Speaking on the issue, Dato’ Radhakrishnan said in an interview with TV3 that the coach had problems with falsifying documents prior to this.
“The coach who is named in the police report is not part of Dodgeball Malaysia. We terminated his services in June 2021 due to some disciplinary problems, some faking of our documents’ letterhead, and all that.”
“So we informed AKK (Akademi Kejurulatihan Kebangsaan) about this matter in June 2021, and together, AKK also made the decision to terminate the coach,” he continued.
This is certainly a very traumatic experience for the victim and we hope that justice will prevail in this situation.
