Sungai Besar UMNO Chief, Jamal Yunos, announced today that he has beaten Stage 4 cancer, three years after he was diagnosed with the illness.

The cancer was initially detected in his lungs before spreading to the brain and the rest of the body

However, according to Jamal, it is no longer detected in his body after undergoing intensive treatment.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my friends, well-wishers and all Malaysians who have continued to pray for my health.”

“After battling terminal cancer for four to five months, the specialist finally confirmed that the cancer had disappeared from my body,” Jamal said in his statement.

Jamal was admitted to the hospital this March after the cancer spread to his brain. His health began to deteriorate in 2022.

Not long after his cancer-free announcement, Seputeh MP had a reminder for Jamal, which she posted on her Facebook today (June 9).

“Congratulations on beating cancer. Time for Jamal to pay my lawyer as instructed by the Court.”

What happened between Teresa and Jamal?

In October last year, Teresa obtained a court order to seize and auction items in Jamal’s house after he failed to pay the court-ordered RM50,000 in legal costs, following his defeat in a defamation suit worth RM300,000.

Teresa was awarded RM300,000 in compensation in 2023 after a seven-year court battle with Jamal.

The suit was filed in 2017 following Jamal’s statement alleging that Teresa had misappropriated funds from the Selangor Warisan Anak Foundation under the former state government’s Skim Mesra Usia Emas.

Teresa claimed that Jamal’s statement implied that she had misused public funds and acted unethically.
