After setting a record attendance at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium and touring around the globe, British alternative-rock band Coldplay recently finished a 6-day sold-out concert in Singapore.
One of the highlights of the musical group’s shows in Singapore has got to be the one that took place in the penultimate show on Tuesday (30 January) when the band brought a few fans on stage for a personal serenade.
Making its rounds on social media, several concertgoers caught the wholesome moment, particularly of frontman Chris Martin singing “Everglow” and comforting an emotional fan who just lost her job.
In two Instagram Stories shared by digital creator @flywith_ng, Chris can be seen talking with the woman on stage while asking her about a sign that she was holding which reads, “I lost my job. Can you fix me?”, in reference to Coldplay’s song “Fix Me”.
The Coldplay vocalist then comforted the woman who was visibly emotional about the opportunity to be on stage with the band by complementing her poster-making skills.
Chris can be heard saying,
“I would like to say to your prospective employers that you have very good printing and laminating skills.
“That’s very beautiful, look at the typing, the typeface, very legible, it’s perfectly grammaticalised. The heart emoji… I mean, it’s wonderful.”
Afterwards, Chris also asked the fan what’s her passion, to which she said teaching. The Coldplay vocalist then asserted that teaching is “the most wonderful job in the world” as the crowd cheered on.
The woman then broke down into tears, touched by Chris’ kind words. Chris then hugged her and said,
“Teachers of the world are one of the best people and you are one of them.”
