Jailed former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is in the news again recently after he initiated a judicial review in relation to an alleged addendum order from the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong allowing Najib to serve the remainder of his prison term under house arrest.
Furthermore, in a supporting affidavit, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is a critical witness in the judicial review, claimed that the addendum order is genuine and real.
The government is ‘very cruel’ to not allow Najib to undergo house arrest
Following the revelation by Zahid, Najib Razak’s Facebook page has called out the Federal Government for allegedly not heeding the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decree and allowing the former Prime Minister to undergo house arrest.
In a Facebook post written by the page admin, a screenshot of a news report regarding Zahid’s claim was attached to complement the caption.
Speaking of which, the caption said that Zahid supported Najib’s claim that there was an addendum order for the latter to finish his prison sentence through house arrest.
The post added that Zahid, who is also the Umno president, supported the claim through an affidavit filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on 9 April.
The post then called the Federal Government ‘very cruel’ to not heed the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decree and allow Najib to undergo house arrest.
The caption iterated,
“The Government is very cruel to not heed the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decree by blocking Najib, who is already 71 years old from celebrating Hari Raya with his family at his own home…”
In reference to the SRC International case which got him in jail in the 1st place, the post claimed that Najib’s only fault was for giving out RM42 million in alms from a fund that had been approved and paid for corporate social responsibility purposes.
As of the time of writing, the Facebook post has gone viral with over 11,000 reactions and 1,400 comments.
Previously, Najib’s daughter expressed sadness about her father celebrating Hari Raya alone in jail and how the former Prime Minister couldn’t visit his parents’ grave on Aidilfitri due to his prison sentence.
