Everyone craves a little luxury in our lives, right? Be it in large amounts or small doses, we definitely want to be spoiled.

Well, are you spoiled enough to want to eat gold?

Sure, we’ve seen specs of gold and silver on our food in various atas restaurants, but what about a sheet of the metal draped over your ice cream?

At Small Potatoes Ice Cremery, you can get a cone of Sea Salt Caramel with Gold Leaf or the Purple Potato with Silver Leaf!

Mothership reported that the gold leaf ice cream costs SGD$12 (approx. RM38) while the silver one will set you back at SGD$10 (approx. RM32).

The price may seem pretty high but the gold leaf is actually made from food-grade 24 carat gold! Yes, actual gold that can be eaten!

According to the Japanese belief, consuming gold allows one to maintain their youth and even prolong their life span. But that doesn’t mean you can eat just anything that’s gold, okay…

Both the silver and gold leaves are imported into Singapore from Japan, so you can be rest-assured on the quality of these unique edibles.

Besides, these special ice creams are actually based on Kinkaku Soft Serve Ice Cream’s creation, which you can find in Kinkakuji a.k.a the ‘Golden Pavilion’ just outside of Central Kyoto, Japan.

The Golden Pavilion is a Buddhist temple that’s super famous among tourists for its beautiful architectural designs.

Of course, not all of us can afford to travel all the way to land of the rising sun, so perhaps a visit to our neighbour, Singapore, would be more budget-friendly.

These gold and silver ice creams are available for a limited time only, so hurry up and make that trip to the little island before Small Potatoes Ice Creamery runs out of stock.

You can find their outlets at:

Novena Square 2

Don’t forget to Intagram these shiny desserts and show them off to all your followers! I mean, how often can anyone eat gold or silver anyways, right?
