A woman in Britain lost £9,000 after becoming a victim of online scammers, claiming that billionaire boss Elon Musk would pay back double the sum of any Bitcoin deposit.
Julie Bushnell, a teacher from Sussex, fell for a Bitcoin fraud that made her give away her hard-earned £9,000 that she saved to buy a new house.
Realising that she was conned by a website that looked like it was taken from BBC, she shared that the website used Elon Musk as a front and lured her into believing that she could double her money in a bitcoin giveaway.
After realising that it was too good to be true, she attempted to disable her account, but to no avail.
“I stayed up all night searching the internet for ways to get this money back.”
“I can’t eat or sleep properly and I keep crying while at work and running off to the toilets during the day and breaking down in floods of tears feeling ashamed and embarrassed of what has happened.”
Netizens however took a different approach to the fraud victim, citing that it was greed that became the root of her mistake.
Let’s hope that this will be a lesson to all of us not to fall for frauds, especially in things we do not understand. Nobody gives away free money ok?
