Anwar Ibrahim Refutes Claims of Madani Aidilfitri Open Houses in Opposition States as a Political Move

Previously, we reported that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would not be holding an official house at his residence this year but instead will hold a “Madani Malaysia Open House” at the states of Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.

Since the announcement, many quarters have claimed that holding the official Hari Raya open house in opposition-ruled states is a political move, especially in view of the upcoming state polls later this year.

However, Anwar has since refuted such claims, saying that the decision to hold official open houses in the states has nothing to do with politics, as it would be held in other states too.

As reported by BERNAMA, the Prime Minister was quoted as saying,

“Many states, Selangor too… No, no (not only in opposition-held states),”

Accordingly, the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) confirmed that Anwar will be attending 3 other open house events in Selangor, Penang and Negeri Sembilan respectively.

The Madani Malaysia Open House is set to be held in Kedah on 29 April 2023, Kelantan on 12 May 2023 and Terengganu on 13 May 2023. As for the open house events in the other three states, JPM has yet to reveal the details as of the time of writing.
