Recently, there’s been a lot of buzz surrounding the incident of an alleged drug addict who reportedly tried to rape a 21-year-old salesgirl in the female washroom at a mall in Alor Setar. Thankfully, he was caught when the girl, identified as Farah, fought back and screamed.
Her screams for help alerted the passersby outside the washroom and the perpetrator was caught by the public, who proceeded to teach him a lesson then and there. According to The Star, the man suffered heavy injuries and was even bleeding on the left side of his head from being inflicted by a blunt object.
This morning, it was reported that the man was sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for treatment but slipped into a coma and was put on life support. The police said that they are investigating the case as molestation, however, the suspect’s twin sister also lodged a police report when the video went viral.
The Star reported this evening that the man succumbed to his injuries in the hospital and passed away at around 12.30pm. The police said that they have remanded five people including the victim to assist with investigations.
The case, which was originally filed under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt will now be investigated as murder instead.
