During the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) faced criticism after unveiling the official attire, with many expressing how it didn’t meet the expected “standards.”
OCM recently mentioned that they’re open to the idea of getting public feedback on the design for the official attire of athletes and officials representing Malaysia at next year’s SEA Games in Thailand.
They’re open to hearing the public’s opinions
Nazifuddin recently shared that the governing body is open to considering any suggestions for changes to the official attire for the national contingent.
“If we stick with the old design, we wouldn’t ask for public opinions, but if there’s a new design, we’ll definitely review it, including getting feedback from the country’s sports fans,” he said.
However, he pointed out that this needs to be discussed in detail since it involves several factors, like sponsors, the budget, and the sponsorship cycle.
The goal is to ensure the attire meets the standards
Nazifuddin explained that the decision to consider public feedback is to avoid any issues with the attire for 2025, emphasising that the goal is to ensure the official attire for the country’s representatives meets the right standards.
“We’ll see how things go next year with the new attire. If it’s not Yonex, there might be a change in the design,” he added.
