We’re just over a month away from the start of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France and accordingly, the Malaysian Contingent is hard at work to prepare for the biggest sports event in the world.

Just yesterday, the official attire of the Malaysian Contingent bound for the XXXIII Olympic Games in Paris 2024 was launched in conjunction with the Olympic Day 2024 celebration held at The Exchange, TRX in Kuala Lumpur.

However, it seems that most Malaysians online aren’t big fans of the official attire as they react negatively to the official unveiling.

The official attire, outfitted with a gold theme was meant to reflect Malaysia’s relentless pursuit of the elusive gold medal at the Olympics.

Many Malaysians aren’t big fans of the ‘uninspired’ design

In the comments section of an Instagram post by the Olympic Council of Malaysia on the official attire’s unveiling, a majority of the reaction was less than positive, criticising the lack of a ‘wow factor’ of the attire, calling it too simple and bland.

The top comment of the post straight out asserted that the attires are ugly and questioned how the design was approved in the 1st place.

Another commenter wasn’t too kind either, saying that the attire design are “school-level” and not befitting of the biggest sports event in the world.

Meanwhile, one commenter said that the official Malaysian Contingent attire of the recent Asian Games was far better and questioned why the official attire for a far bigger competition is worse.

Several commenters urged for a redesign, saying that it’s not too late to do so, with one commenter saying that the current iteration will only ‘humiliate’ our national contingent at the Olympics.

So, what do you guys think of the official Malaysian Contingent attire? Do you think the criticism by netizens is too harsh? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
