According to Harian Metro, the box was discovered at about 11pm at the open space next to KL Gateway Mall in Pantai Dalam yesterday night. For a short while, there were rumours that a bomb was found and people started to speculate and panic as quite a number of posts were circulated online.

Apparently, one of these posts by a netizen showed a photo of what looked like an actual bomb, which was what triggered the panic in the first place.

When the police arrived, the area was quickly cordoned off to prevent civilians from getting near the scene as the police had to investigate the mysterious box. Luckily, after careful investigation, it was discovered that the box with the alleged bomb did not actually contain any explosives. Phew, what a relief!

Assistant Commissioner Ruslan Khalid, the Brickfields Chief of Police said they received a call regarding the mysterious-looking box that was found near the shopping mall, which allegedly looked like a bomb.

He said, “As soon as we received the report, we dispatched a bomb disposal unit to the location to investigate the box. Further inspection showed that the box did not contain any explosive elements and the box was taken away from the premises.”

He added that the box was destroyed by the bomb disposal unit in accordance to their regular procedures.

Thank goodness it wasn’t a real bomb and there wasn’t any injuries involved!
