The rise of depression and anxiety in today’s society unfortunately means that there have been more suicide attempts in recent months. Hence, it often takes a hero to step up and to prevent others from hurting themselves.

A woman in Putrajaya was recently believed to have been planning her suicide as she appeared to be ready to jump off the barrier of the Putrajaya Bridge.

In several videos and pictures which have been shared on social media, the distressed woman appeared to have made her mind up as she sat on the edge of the barrier as her hands gripped the platform tightly.

However, before she had decided it was time to jump, 2 men had walked over to her and spoken to her.

Fortunately, it appears that whatever the men said to her was successful as she eventually got off the barrier and sat back down in her car.

An unexpected hero

The videos and images of the interaction has since gone viral. Plenty of netizens praised the customs officers for stepping up and trying to persuade the woman not to follow through with her plans.

“Kudos to the customs officer for spotting an unusualness when driving and (was) able to save a life.”

“Promote that customs officer,” said a user.
