As the year end approaches, many people would want to take time off to rest and get ready for a new year. That being said, many people would start arranging their tasks in order to have a good rest.

However, is it fair if you’re being forced by your employer to use your leaves before the new year?

Just recently, a Malaysian shared his experience with a company he just joined. In his post he said, “My company wants to be closed for the whole week in conjunction with new year and only wants to resume its operations in January.”

He continued his post by mentioning that the company has forced all their employees to apply for annual leave so that the company can close.

“I just joined the company not long ago and don’t have much annual leave to be deducted but HR sent me an e-mail saying that they will providing me with advanced annual leave.”

He expressed himself by saying that he feels it is unfair that he has to apply for leave even when it’s the company’s decision to be off for the new year.

Following his post, many netizens have left their comments and it appears that this is a norm in many companies across Malaysia.

“My ex-company did the same thing.”

A netizen mentioned that many companies are doing the same thing. “It’s really unfair for companies to do that to their staffs.
