Universiti Teknologi Petronas Retains Position As Malaysia’s Top Private University, 95th In Asia

Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) has recently secured an impressive 95th position in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2022, making the private education institution the second best overall Malaysian University in the ranking. Hence, UTP has officially retained its position as the number one private university in our country.

As reported by national news agency Bernama, UTP jumped 16 places in the rankings, whereby the institution was at the 111th spot in the same rankings last year. The university’s vice-chancellor, Professor Ts. Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib lauded the achievement, saying that its constantly rising ranking is particularly gratifying, considering the increased level of competition globally.

Dr Mohamed Ibrahim also said that the latest ranking is a landmark achievement for the university as it validates the quality of its academic programmes and learning delivery, as well as the faculty and staff. Furthermore, the achievement also solidifies UTP’s strong capabilities of researchers, with innovative, impactful and quality research.

Besides being ranked 95th in THE Asia University Rankings 2022, UTP was also ranked 119th in THE Young University Rankings 2022 and 60th in THE Emerging Economies University Rankings 2022. The university also received the honour of being ranked 72nd in QS Asia World University Rankings and 159th for Engineering and Technology subject areas in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022.
