We’re expected to be careful on the road AT ALL TIMES to avoid unwanted consequences. The fundamentals of giving signals prior to changing lanes and not speeding on the road cannot be stressed enough.

Just this morning (29 April), the Twitter page Malaysia Most Viral shared an accident that took place on a highway in Malaysia which involved a Proton Exora and a motorcyclist. According to the video, the accident happened yesterday (28 April) at 5:43 pm at an unspecified location.

From the 0:26 mark to the end of the video, a motorcyclist can be seen colliding into a Proton Exora who signaled before changing lanes. You can watch the clip below.

In the thread, a point of view from the back of the Proton Exora is also available.

How could he just drive away?

But what enraged the netizens is the fact that the driver of the Proton Exora did not come down from his vehicle. Instead, the driver casually drove away.

“Did the driver not feel guilty or a tad bit responsible? Did he think he hit a cow?”

“Drove like a blind person.”

“The driver acted as if nothing happened. He thought he hit a butterfly?”

“Giving signal doesn’t mean you can change lanes immediately. Look clearly before doing so.”

“Hit & run. The worse attitude.”

“It requires patience & attention.”

However, not everyone is on board with the motorcyclist. Some netizens think the rider was also at fault for speeding.

“To the riders out there, I’m gonna say it. Don’t speed when the traffic is congested. If you see any drivers changing lanes without watching carefully, just honk as loud as you can. Win-win situation.”

While there is never a good excuse, most netizens are dissatisfied that the driver opted to escape instead of coming down from his vehicle to check on the injured motorcyclist.

In this case, do you think both parties are at fault or the driver should’ve watched carefully before changing lanes?
