If you’ve ever wanted to become a police officer, then now’s the perfect time to apply to become one as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) revealed that it has 11,111 vacancies as for 31 January 2022. This is according to a statement by Bukit Aman Management Department director, Datuk Zaini Jass yesterday.

As reported by national news agency Bernama, out of the 11,111 total, 651 are posts involving senior police officers. Besides that, there are also 9,005 posts for junior police officers while the remaining 1,455 posts are for civil servants.

Speaking of the large amount of vacancies, Zaini said that this is party due to difficulties in implementing training or courses to fill the posts due to strict Covid-19 SOPs in the force. Furthermore, he also said that PDRM has a total workforce of 137,628 personnel, including senior police officers, junior police officers and civil servants.

Speaking to reporter after the handover of duties of Melaka police chief and Police Family Association (Perkep) chairman yesterday, Zaini asserted,

“For this year, we will train some 5,000 individuals to fill the posts of junior officers, taking into account the SOPs. The remaining vacancies are expected to be filled by the end of next year.”
