We all experience our fair share of anxiety when it comes to anything related to our health. Many of us have our own ways in dealing with anxiety to help take the edge off, and this lady from China definitely has one of the most unique methods!

In a report by the South China Morning Post, photos of a woman using her phone while undergoing surgery gained lots of attention online recently.

The patient, whose name is Zhu, is a 69 year-old woman, who went to a hospital in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province to undergo a surgical procedure on her legs.

Zhu suffered varicose veins on her legs as a result of having to stand for long hours when she used to work. She had to go through a minor 18-minute surgery while being completely awake (of course, her legs were injected with local anaesthetic so she wouldn’t feel any pain).

Understandably, Zhu felt very nervous about the surgery, so her doctors allowed her to use her mobile phone to distract her from worrying about what the surgeons were doing.

The doctors also made sure her phone was sterile before they entered the operation theatre, to prevent her from getting an infection during the procedure.

We hope she makes a speedy recovery!
