The pandemic has been part of our world for quite some time now and people around the world have been trying to figure out ways to carry on with their day-to-day lives.

Many university students had to unfortunately start and finish their degrees online, which takes away from the excitement of the whole graduation experience. However, one university in Japan was determined to ensure their students were given the respect and acknowledgement they deserved after years of studying.

BTT University found an excellent way to conduct their student’s graduation ceremony without having them physically attend it. They brought in robots!

While the ceremony was held last year, it was reshared on Facebook and went viral again on 8 September. The 2021 graduates must be trying to send a message to their own universities to try the same thing.

The graduation ceremony was held on 28 March 2020 at the Hotel Grand Palace at Chiyoda, Tokyo, as reported by Bored Panda.

It comes as no surprise that the Japanese have adapted to quickly learn from any crisis and have always been so quick to come up with innovative ideas that are extremely useful.

According to Bored Panda, the team had four graduates from two departments remotely operate “newme” robots in order to receive their certificates. The robots were developed by ANA Holdings and each had a display screen showing the face of the student operating it and arms that enabled them to receive the certificates on the graduates’ behalf. They were also dressed in graduation gowns in order to keep up with the spirit of the event.

The rest of the graduates participated in the graduation ceremony online via Zoom, where they could send comments and be part of the ceremony.
