As more people in Malaysia are getting vaccinated, the Covid-19 situation in the country sees obvious improvement, especially in Selangor.

According to the infographic from Media Selangor created with the data obtained from the Health Ministry, the daily cases of Selangor on 28 August 2021 (yesterday) are now 25 per cent lower compared to the highest daily cases since 1 June 2021. The death cases in Selangor are also shown to be declining.

Additionally, the hospital bed usage also rates below 80 per cent for five consecutive days (23 to 27 August 2021), and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) bed usage also rates under 100 per cent for three days in a row (25 to 27 August 2021). This shows that there is an apparent decrease on critical Covid-19 cases recorded in Selangor in recent days.

According to the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (JKJAV), 61.9 per cent of the adult population in Malaysia has received both doses of the vaccine as of yesterday (28 August 2021). Besides, the Health Ministry also reported that 97.9 per cent of the new Covid-19 cases yesterday belongs to Category 1 and 2 (No symptoms or mild symptoms cases).

Many shops, malls and restaurants are also open for dine-in and other economic activities, particularly for fully-vaccinated individuals. Nevertheless, we should not be complacent as the battle against this deadly virus has not ended, and do keep in mind that one can still be infected even if he or she is fully vaccinated.
