Many of us found ourselves stuck at home with a lot of free time on our hands during the pandemic. While some used the opportunity to try their hand at different hobbies, this talented sibling duo decided to start a donation drive aimed at helping poverty-stricken children in Malaysia through adorable handmade crafts.

Heppi Pins (@heppipins) is a sibling founded initiative that was launched in July 2021 by Denise and Kevyn Lee. They aim to raise RM5,000 in donations for Dignity for Children, an organisation that aims to empower underprivileged children through education. For every donation made to heppi pins, you will receive a small token of appreciation in the form of handmade clay pins and hand-painted tote bags!

“We wanted to contribute in whatever little way that we could.”

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, the brother-sister duo said the initiative stemmed from the urge to give back to the community.

“Poverty issues have always held a very important place in our hearts. We are very grateful to have received education and to experience the level of security that comes with financial stability but so many others have not.”

Many have suffered from the loss of income, jobs and livelihoods due to the pandemic and it’s only widened the existing gap between the rich and the poor in Malaysia. “Education, opportunity and resources have a vital role to play in breaking the poverty cycle,” they said.

But heppi pins isn’t just your ordinary donation drive.“What’s fun about this initiative is that it is entirely a passion project. We’re not tied down to creating masses of stock, which means we can be creative with the variety of handcrafted items we create,” the creators told WOB.

“Heppi pins emphasises creating #pinswithapurpose and #giftsthatgiveback. The monetary donation may be channelled one way, but every act of kindness has a ripple effect. Your donation will go to a good cause and positively impact the lives of someone else, but subsequently, the handmade gift could then be made out to a loved one, and by helping us to share our initiative, the cycle goes on!”

Handmade, personalised & environmentally friendly

Since their launch, heppi pins has released a number of themed clay pin collections, including their latest collection, the Y2Clay Heart Pins

If you’re looking for a way to cheer up your friends and loved ones during this difficult season, this adorable memorabilia will definitely put a smile on their faces.

Aside from the cute designs, each heppi pin is also curated with a personal touch. “We put a lot of effort into making sure that every aspect of heppi pins is as handmade as possible. This means our gifts are handmade, hand wrapped and even the cards are handwritten! Every gift is unique and one-of-a-kind. All of the items are handmade with lots of love and attention to detail.”

Packaging

And if you’re environmentally conscious, fret not! All heppi pin items come wrapped in eco-friendly and biodegradable packaging.

Heppi pins is a complete-non profit initiative and all proceeds collected from donations are entirely channelled to the Dignity for Children Foundation. They aim to raise RM5,000 by October 2021 so if you’re looking to support a great cause and have a sweet little token to show for it, head on over to @heppipins to place an order today!
