A Malaysian recently shared how she was almost scammed after an online seller sent her more items than she ordered and requested that she pay for them.

On 30 June, Bowie Law shared on Facebook that she ordered 68 pieces of pet sausages worth about RM11 to give to stray dogs and cats on the streets. However, before she received the parcel, she got a message from the seller saying that they sent her 2,040 pieces instead and asked her to pay RM295.80 for the extra items.

“The number of pet ham sausages you ordered was sent incorrectly, and you have received more than the order. Please transfer your missing RM295.8 amount to us. Thank you! We will give you RM10 as a thank you,” the online seller said.

“Please help give 5 stars, thank you”

Bowie then replied that she will send back the extra items once she receives the parcel and told them to pay the postage fee. But the online seller still insisted she pay for the extra items.

“The product you ordered is 68 pieces, what we send you is 2,040 pieces,” they said.

“Because this is our error, you only need to pay the cost price of RM230, other costs are borne by us.”

Bowie then told them that their error is not her problem and that she wasn’t going to pay extra for their mistakes.

The online seller then gave her a ‘discount’ and said that she only needed to pay half the price and wouldn’t need to send the items back to them, but Bowie stood her ground and told them that they can’t force her to pay for things she doesn’t want.

Eventually, the online seller said that she didn’t need to return the products or pay any extra costs, and asked her to give them a five-star rating.

Expired products with worms

When Bowie received the packages, she checked the items and found that the production dates were on 12 April 2020 and 16 May 2020. She said that the items have a shelf life of about 12 months, which means that the items were expired for more than a month.

However, that wasn’t the worst part as she found that there were worms in the packages, some of which were dead.

When she confronted the seller about this, they said that the shelf life of ham sausages is usually three years, which does not affect its consumption.

“You still want me to give you five stars? Not to mention that all the things you sold to me are expired and you still want to scam me of my money? I don’t know how many people were deceived,” Bowie said in her post.

She then urged others to be careful of scammers online.

“MCO is not easy for anyone, but this does not mean that I agree with this practice! They should be severely punished!”

WORLD OF BUZZ has reached out to the seller for a statement regarding this issue but has yet to receive a response at the time of writing.
