The incident happened in Jalan Telawi 3, a popular nightlife area in Bangsar at around 4.30am. Apparently the policemen came to the area as they received a report from six party-goers who had just fled from an altercation that just happened near Echo Club.

They were accosted by eight men and one of them had a gun which they used to threatened the six of them.Malaysian Policemen Gets Beaten Up By Gang Members In Bangsar, Suspects Arrested - World Of Buzz 1

The policemen arrived to investigate the incident but an unidentified man came out from Echo Club and shouted at the police,

“What’s your problem?”.

Right after that, a group of eight to ten men appeared from the club, all of them armed with sticks and bottles and started attacking the three policemen.

One of the attackers was reportedly heard shouting,

“How dare you disturb 36?”

It is believed that he was referring to Gang 36, a known criminal organisation.

The policemen identified themselves as police but the gang took no notice and continued beating them up.

The attack only stopped when one of the policemen took out his gun and the group of men fled.

Earlier today, The Star reported that Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Shahrul Othman confirmed that they have arrested three suspects aged between 24 and 26.

The case will be investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons.
